German apparel company Adolf Ahlers AG in the financial year 1999/2000 ended November 30, 2000, has continued the expansion course of the last years. The Herford-based company’s turnover increased by 24 % to DEM 742.2m (EUR 379.4m), with more than half of growth resulting from acquisitions. Profit from ordinary activities levelled last year’s result with DEM 54.5m (EUR 27.8m).
Profit was impacted by expenses regarding the line Otto Kern and Andy Jilien and investments in internet subsidiary a-fashion.com.
The company could account for a two-digit turnover increase with its premium brands. Pierre Cardin license agreements will be extended and expanded to further countries. The Otto Kern brand is expected to reach a retail turnover of more than DEM 100m (EUR 51.1m).
For the current financial year, Ahlers forecasts a total turnover of approx. DEM 800m (EUR 409m), and a profit of DEM 30m (EUR 15.3m).
